Shower Wet Rooms Are an Attractive Solution to Small Bathrooms

07/24/2010 9:01:00 AM

Limited space in the bathroom can be a problem, but every problem has a solution. It is necessary when dealing with a small area to utilize every bit of available space as well as possible. With shower wet rooms, the result will be an area that is efficiently used, stylish, attractive, and easy to clean.

A wet room bathroom eliminates the need for a bathtub and shower stall. The entire space is the shower, and to utilize the area even more efficiently, the sink and toilet can be wall-mounted, taking up no floor space. Non-porous tile is used in this type of area, on both the floor and the walls. Everything must be watertight to prevent any water leaks or damage that may require repairs.

A professional contractor is needed to construct this design, as there are more demanding requirements that must be met. The entire floor needs to slope towards the drain for proper drainage, and everything needs to be sealed to prevent water leakage and subsequent damage. With tile comprising this type of bath area, it is relatively easy to keep clean.

If there is more than one bathing area in the house, it could be very beneficial to have the smallest unit converted into this wet room design. As long as there is still a shower stall and bathtub featured in another bath area, this type of room can increase the market value of the home.

A bathing area designed in this way can be a very attractive addition to the house. More new homes are being constructed with this design featured somewhere in the blueprints. It is increasing in popularity with homeowners.

For anyone considering this conversion, they may find that by choosing elegant tile for the decor and complementary sink and toilet fixtures, the smallest area of the house may also become the most attractive.
