Closets are important places for storage of clothes and other things. In general, there is a gender predilection for rummaging and having fun in the closet. Women are more excited than men by the thought of a spacious closet and it is they that are always looking for new closet design ideas.

The Men’s Side
Men do not value closets the same way women do because most men do not care much about their clothes as ladies do. In day-to-day activities, a simple pair of pants partnered with a shirt will do for the guys. Unless a man has obsessive-compulsive tendencies or has a wife or a girlfriend who takes care of his things, one would find his closet unorganized and his things all over the place. There have been horror stories of rotting food and unwashed clothes stored in the closets of guys who completely forgot about them but this is an extreme. The common finding is an untidy closet that does not look appealing.

The Women’s Side
Women are generally very careful about their appearance and their clothes. They take a lot of time deciding what to wear while in the closet. That is why they are especially interested in big closets and walk in closet ideas. Additionally, they own more clothes and shoes than typical men. Therefore, when given a chance to use a big closet, they have a lot of things planned. A woman decides where to put clothes, undergarments, shoes, accessories and many other implements. When one walks into a woman’s closet, the place is usually very organized and things are assorted according to color or to whatever categorizing factor the woman prefers.

A Closet for Both Man and Woman Together
A single closet is generally used by a couple living together. Most of the time, what happens is that the woman’s things occupy about 75% of the space while the man’s things occupy only 25%. If the woman’s things need more than this allotment, she can use the man’s space as long as it does not interfere with the man’s ability to place his stuff and find them later.
