Advances in Kitchen Technology

I am obsessed with food and eating with my loved ones. And right now as I am sitting here in front of my computer, my thoughts are focused on those new advances in kitchen technology and we all know using them leads to eating. These new gadgets fascinate me. For whatever reason, most of my technology minded friends don’t make this leap but it seems to me an entirely natural progression to become obsessed with kitchen appliances. Let us go through some of the new appliances in the kitchen.

It used to be that a toaster is, well, a toaster. But now all toasters are not created equal. There is a toaster and an oven toaster. That used to be the big decision to make. Now, your choices have become more numerous. Does your toaster do bagels? Does your toaster have a warming plate on top of it? Innovations, innovations! They make life easier, but deciding a little bit harder.

Even refrigerators are being built differently now. There are refrigerators with LCD screens on the door so that you can watch television if you do not have enough counter space for it. There are refrigerators that produce ions inside to keep the food fresher longer and guard against bacteria. There are refrigerators that have built in computers that tell you exactly what you have inside and offer recipes and menus on what you can actually serve with what you have. They even tell you what you need to buy the next time you go to the market.

And just how great is the cordless carving knife?  You can serve perfectly sliced food without smashing it or spilling their stuffing out of your stuffed turkey or chicken. You can even bring the cordless electric knife into you dining table without worrying on where to plug it or worrying on someone tripping on a cord.

The new microwaves are great too. They all now come with digital timers and various settings. You can heat, defrost, and cook. And when cooking for instant meals all you have to do is follow the instructions on the package. Although, they should bring back the single-touch reheat button because I think it’s a must-have feature.

We all live hectic lives now rushing to and from work. We all do spend a lot of time in traffic. Thanks to these innovations in our kitchen appliances, when we get to our homes, we spend a lot less time preparing our food and more time enjoying the meal with our loved ones. We also get a lot more time to relax, refresh, and recharge.
