A patio is a great extension to your living quarters. You don’t have to be confined to just your living room, dining room and bedroom. Push your living quarters further out by sprucing up your patio. It will complete the look of you home and give you additional space to hang out. Before you start furnishing your patio, check how exposed the room is to the elements. Is it a covered or closed patio or is the patio open and exposed to rain and too much sunlight?

If your patio is open and gets a fair amount of sunlight, heat, humidity and rain you should get furniture that can withstand these conditions. A wooden rocker would be great in an outdoor patio but won’t last if constantly exposed to extreme weather. Rattan or wicker rocking chairs might fare better under these circumstances. But you have to double check if the rattan or wicker rocker is for outdoor use. There are a few types that are not specially treated for outdoor use.

Before you start buying patio furniture, let’s see how much you should expect to pay for good rattan outdoor furniture. Authentic rattan or wicker furniture will definitely look gorgeous for any patio. But if you have budget constraints, you might want to check out some resin furniture. Resin is also weather resistant but not as attractive as natural rattan or wicker. Another concern about resin furniture is its tendency to fade and become dull when exposed to the elements.

Resin wicker furniture can go for as low as $6 to $10 per chair. Chaise lounge chairs from the same material can be a little more expensive. Expect to pay about $30 to $40 for each chaise lounge chair. The price of resin rattan and wicker depends on the size of the item. There are also high end resin furniture that are more beautiful and cost more. Place an umbrella to add color and pizzazz. The umbrella will also provide some shade on you and your furniture so that they don’t fade too quickly from too much sun exposure.
