Selecting the Right Futon Mattress

If all you know about futons is what you learn in college and you happen to be in your, ahem, more mature years of life, then you should know a thing about this great bed choice before heading off to the store or even shopping online. Where you’re sitting can be a great place to find a new futon or a terrible place to get so confused you won’t know which to choose. Hopefully, this article will help guide you to make some more informed decisions regarding your next mattress purchase or, at least, steer you in the right direction.

So, you’re already interested in a futon mattress and that’s a good sign. It means you are either open to how flexible they can be in terms of sleeping arrangements or you are thinking more in terms of a budget friendly way to get both a couch and a bed all rolled up into one. Well, in either case, futon beds can fit the bill perfectly for you, literally.

There has been nothing short of a big innovative push in how futon mattresses have been made over the last 10 years or more. In the past, futons suffered from very poor construction and craftsmanship. The infill materials were either suspect or just too thin to provide any lasting comfort. Well, these factors have changed. With the rise in popularity of the futon came the ‘big boys’ into the arena. You’ll now find the major brand names like Sealy™, Beautyrest™ and Simmons™ just to name a few entering the futon arena.

With these names involved, you know that a futon mattress evolution was sure to follow, and it has. You can now find a futon made with inner coil springs, latex memory foam, better quality foam inserts and other features that you might only think of for a traditional mattress like toppers and such. Now, aren’t you glad that you decided to take another look at the futon mattress for your next bed?
